39 Canadian Brigade Group is the Canadian Army representative in British Columbia. The Brigade is a force generator that recruits, trains, and retains reserve soldiers and leaders in support to Canadian Armed Forces assistance in domestic emergencies and expeditionary operations when required.
39 Canadian Brigade Group is a reserve brigade formation within 3rd Canadian Division (Western Canada), and supports the efforts of Joint Task Force Pacific (in British Columbia) during times of domestic emergencies such as forest fires and flood watch. During expeditionary operations, 39 Canadian Brigade Group provides individual augmentation to regular force battle groups.
There are approximately 1,508 fulltime and part-time reserve soldiers serving within 39 Canadian Brigade Group in four geographical regions in British Columbia; Lower Mainland (Greater Vancouver), the Fraser Valley Regional Area, the Interior and Cariboo regions, and Vancouver Island (from Victoria to the Cowichan Valley).
The majority of serving members have civilian jobs or attend university and work part-time for the army reserve. 39 Canadian Brigade Group is committed to the safety and security of Canadians, and is ready to provide support to Canadian Armed Forces assistance during domestic emergencies and expeditionary operations when required.
