A. S. K. (The Arbutus, Shaughnessy, Kerrisdale Friendship Society) is an Adult Day Centre focusing on the well being of seniors and their caregivers. There are opportunities to make new friends and have fun doing therapeutic activities with the support of a caring team of trained staff members.
One of our primary goals is to help elders in our community remain happy and healthy while living in their own homes for as long as possible. We have successfully done this for over 35 years.
A.S.K. was initiated by local neighbourhood churches in answer to the need for daily care and social activities for the seniors in our community who have chronic health challenges. We are now located at 601 West 59th Avenue just West of Cambie Street.
Local community members on the Board of A.S.K determine its Mission and guide its activities according to the Vision they have established. A.S.K has the support of many volunteers. Most of these are members of the immediate community who have a keen interest in maintaining the quality of their community service.
A.S.K. is a happy place where staff and volunteers enjoy making a meaningful contribution and where program participants and their caregivers feel embraced by a caring community.
